Sahyadri COmmunity Development and Women Empowerment Society

We are an organization with high ethical values and are highly committed to society. We do our work with heart and soul. We have many esteemed partners & our works have been appreciated by the donors, beneficiaries, and visitors including the World Bank team.

Our Story

SCODWES is a secular NGO registered (2005) by a team of committed social workers. The Founder secretary Dr.Venkatesh Naik and 6 other members started this organization with two old chairs, a teapoy, a bag and with a great passion to establish a society of their dream. The support system was almost nil.

The team was inspired by the ideology of MYRADA NGO where 3 of founder members were working together in a project. With hard work, commitment and wild passion, we are now spread in 22+ districts of Karnataka state with 250+ staff capacity and a beneficiary base of one million plus which is growing every single day.

Dr. Venkatesh L Naik 

Founder and Executive Director 

(Ph.D in Tribal Studies) , founded SCODWES in the year 2005 with like-minded people. He pursued MSW, Diploma in Journalism, and Ph. D. in tribal studies. He is a great visionary and has about 28 years of experience in social development activities. He has great competency to envision strategically and systemically and to engage people and collaborations towards desired results. He believes in teamwork & everyone’s well being is the core interest beneath all his activities. He has a commendable presence in the geography he works in and has been honoured with many awards and recognitions for his contribution to this field.
