Our organization was chosen to participate in the CHILDLINE-1098 initiative in December 2017. Our main objective was to establish a CHILDLINE sub-center in Uttara Kannada (Karwar) district in Karnataka State. Since its inception, our services have helped register 674 cases of distressed children in the district, and we have provided immediate care and protection through SCODWES child-line services.
SHGs
Through the SCODWES program, women are brought together in Self-Help Groups and offered a range of training opportunities to enhance their skills and promote gender equality. Leadership training sessions have been conducted to improve the capacity of SHG members, while legal literacy and skill development workshops have also been organized. Income Generation Activity training has been provided to members to empower them to establish sustainable business ventures. Financial assistance in the form of loans from NABFINS and ICICI is available to help women start small commercial enterprises of their choice.

Santwana
Santvana Mahila Kendra was founded by SCODWES in February 2015 in Haliyal Taluk, Uttara Kannada. Later, a center was also established in Dandeli Taluk to offer counseling, legal aid, temporary shelter, financial support, training, and rehabilitation to women who have experienced domestic violence, sexual harassment, dowry, rape, and other forms of abuse. The center can be contacted through a toll-free number, 1091.

Swadhar Greh
Swadhar Greh is a safe space for women and girls who are facing difficult times to become self-sufficient and self-reliant. This facility offers essential amenities such as shelter, food, and emotional support to these women. SCODWES is the sole organization in Uttara Kannada that operates the Swadhar Greh with the aim of supporting underprivileged women in the district.

Heroes For Humanity (HFH)
Desai Foundation Trust is developing innovative solutions to bring more support in this time of crisis in India. These Heroes for Humanity will allow us to impact the lives of thousands more people with food, supplies, COVID testing, access to medical interventions, and so much more in the most rural communities - which are radically underserved and overlooked.
SCODWES is implementing this programme with 41 heroes who all are serving in Uttara kannada and Haveri districts of Karnataka in collaboration with Desai Foundation. Presently our heroes are giving awareness to people about menstrual health and hygiene. Till date they have reached around 10,565
people directly and 42,260 people indirectly.
Annual Status of Education Report (ASER)
This is an annual survey that aims to provide reliable annual estimates of children’s schooling status and basic learning levels for each state and rural district in India. ASER has been conducted every year since 2005 in almost all rural districts of India.
