Su-Krishi Project

The Su Krishi Project is dedicated to advancing sustainable agriculture in five clusters of Uttara Kannada through the implementation of agroecology-based farming practices. By integrating ecological principles into agricultural production, the project focuses on enhancing biodiversity, improving soil health, promoting local food cultures, and building resilience to climate change.

Project Goal: To institutionalize and promote agroecology-based farming practices for sustainable agriculture in the project area.

Objectives:

  • Increase Use of Local Inputs: The project encourages a shift from chemical farming to natural, agroecology-based methods by promoting the use of local inputs and sustainable practices.

  • Promote Local Food Systems: It aims to highlight and revitalize diverse local food systems in Uttara Kannada, including uncultivated, forgotten, and wild foods.

  • Empower Women-Led Community Organizations: The project supports women-led community-based organizations, fostering their leadership in driving agroecological transformation.

  • Enhance Nutrition Levels: It seeks to improve nutrition levels among farm families by diversifying food consumption.

Through training farmers in agroecological techniques and providing support for implementing these practices, the Su Krishi Project strives to build a sustainable and resilient agricultural future for Uttara Kannada.
